Vic: Union vow to fight Pilbara ruling
MELBOURNE, Jan 10 AAP - Unions today vowed to fight a Federal Court ruling giving BHP
the right to offer workers at its Pilbara iron ore site individual workplace agreements.
The decision handed down in Melbourne today followed a protracted court battle last
year when five unions claimed BHP Iron Ore Pty Ltd's individual contracts were in breach
of the Commonwealth Workplace Relations Act, 1996.
BHP has been prevented from offering the deals since late January last year, when the
court issued a temporary injunction.
