NSW: Egan refuses to rule out rise in taxes

SYDNEY, Feb 26 AAP - New South Wales Treasurer Michael Egan today refused to rule out tax
increases if Labor won a second term on March 27.

Mr Egan said the state's economy remained strong but it would be irresponsible to make such
a commitment over a four-year term.

"I certainly don't see any need going forward for tax increases and I think in the longer
term the more likely outcome is some reduction in taxes," he told reporters here.
